This is the first edition magnificently printed by the brothers Robert and Andrew Foulis, the esteemed custodians of the Typographia Academiae Glasguensis, a veritable editorial masterpiece regarded as one of the finest editions ever published of the Iliade and the Odissea in Greek, both typographically and textually.

The text was edited by the Glasgow scholars James Moor and George Muirhead (the former being the brother-in-law of Robert Foulis). The volumes were printed using the splendid Greek typeface designed and engraved by Alexander Wilson, a renowned type cutter from Glasgow. This edition earned the Foulis brothers the silver medal from the Select Society of Edinburgh.
